Ethiopia: Massive Rotor Installed on GERD in Prep for Power Generation
Ethiopian Electric Power announced the successful installation of a massive rotor, as well as a stator, on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). The installation is part of the two early generation units with a capacity of 375MW power generation each.
The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) announced the approval of $500 million in support in the form of credit for Ethiopian commercial banks. The announcement came at the start of a three-day business forum being held in Addis Ababa starting Wednesday, September 15, 2021, organized by Afreximbank. The business forum holds the aim of promoting a trading scheme with Ethiopia's commercial banks.
The Ethiopian government has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the partial privatization of Ethio Telecom, Ethiopia's state-owned and so far sole telecom services provider. The RFP is extended to all interested parties "who can add value to the company by bringing in best practices in terms of operations, infrastructure management and next-generation technological capabilities."
De Havilland Aircraft announced that it has delivered Ethiopian Airlines 32nd Dash 8-400 aircraft. Ethiopian received its first Dash 8-400 from the Canadian aircraft manufacturer in March 2010. In a tweet, De Havilland Aircraft has said it wishes Ethiopian and its strategic airline partners "much ongoing success."
