Shipment of avocado grown by Ethiopian local cooperative unions has been sent off to Europe, specifically the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK. Over 100 smallholder farmers are represented by the cooperative unions.
Ethiopia had sent its first shipment of avocado produce from smallholder farmers, twenty-four tons, in August last year to the UK. The first shipment had been carried to the port of Djibouti via a refrigerated train.
Flying Swans and Koga Veg Agricultural Development PLC organized this second shipment of avocados, it has been learned.
