Bole Lemi 2Bole Lemi Industrial Park saved Birr 2 billion by producing goods which substituted import products. Among the park’s manufacturing companies, Soufflet Malt and BGI, a Chinese company, take the lion’s share in the production of import substituting products. Soufflet’s malt production has fully substituted import malt while BGI’s Covid-19 testing kits have saved the country from spending foreign currency on foreign made testing products.

Ethiopia: Industrial Parks Development Corporation Enters Agreement to Recycle Waste Products

IPDC Recycle

Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) signed a memorandum or understanding with Tanabe Limited and Suntechno, Japanese companies, to recycle industrial park waste products.

The companies will start the recycling project in Hawassa Industrial Park within the next two months. If the pilot project is successful, it will be expanded to include other industrial parks and Government institutions. The companies are also expected to transfer skill and knowledge to Ethiopians while implementing the project.

Ethiopian Industrial Input Development Enterprise (EIIDE) earned Birr 2.6 billion in the first half of the current fiscal year from the sell of industrial inputs and services. It reported that it was providing quality raw materials and inputs to manufacturing industries.

Ethiopia: Eight Companies Lease 35.58 Hectares of Developed Land in Bure Integrated Agro Industrial Park

Amhara Industry Parks Development Corporation leased 35.58 hectares of developed land to eight companies in Bure Integrated Agro Processing Industrial Park (IAIP). The companies have a collective capital of Birr 5.4 billion and are expected to employ 1,989 citizens.

Ethiopia: Shacman and BEAEKA to Start Vehcile Assembly

BEAKA and Shacman

Shacman Group and BEAEKA General Business PLC collaborate to assemble heavy machineries and vehicles in Ethiopia. Based on the implementation agreement signed between the two companies, 1,500 heavy trucks including cassoni, lobed, sewage cargo vehicle, and hybed will be assembled within a year during the first implementation phase while 3,000 vehicles will be assembled annually when the second implementation phase commences.
