Export of Leather Products Fetches US$111.1 Million

Ethiopia has earned  US$111.1 million from the export of leather products over the past eleven months of the current Ethiopian Fiscal year, according to the Leather and Industry Development Institute (LIDI).

Of the total revenue, nearly 92 million USD was obtained from export of finished leather products, Birhanu Serjebo, corporate communication director with the Institute indicated. Add a comment Add a comment


Ethiopia Earned US$2.8 Billion from Export

Ethiopia has earned US$2.8 billion from export of various commodities during the past 11 months, according to the Ministry of Trade (MoT).

Ministry Corporate Communication Directorate Directore, Amakele Yimam, told Walta Information Center that the country has exported 37, 358 tonnes of agricultural produces, manufacturing, minerals and other products during the stated period. Add a comment Add a comment


Ethiopia Earned USD 2.2B from Exports

Ethiopia has Earned close to USD 2.2 billion from export during the past nine months of the current Ethiopian Fiscal year. The figure showed a 2.8 percent increment compared to the same period during the past year.

Coffee still remains Ethiopia's leading export commodity fetching USD 513.8 million, followed by gold at USD 432.1 million and oil seeds generating USD 314.5 million.

Cooperative Union Reported USD 1.1M Earning from Sesame Export

Selam farmers' Cooperatives Union in Tach Armacheho Woreda of North Gondar Zone, Amhara State said it has earned over USD 1.1 million from export of sesame in the current Ethiopian Fiscal Year.

Speaking at the Union's annual general assembly over the weekend, Union Board Chairperson Hagos Asfaw said that the cooperative union manged to export over 6000 quintals sesame to China. He said the regional government provided 30 million Ethiopian Birr loan to the Union for purchasing sesame. Hagos also said activities are underway to establish a sesame processing plant through support of the government and NGOs. Add a comment Add a comment


Swedish Textile and Leather Industry Delegation Visited Ethiopia

A Swedish business delegation led by Gunnar Oom, Swedish Secretary of Trade expressed its keen interest to promote trade relations between Ethiopia and Sweden.

The trade promotion  event took place between 15 and 17 May 2013 was organized by the Embassy of Sweden Addis Ababa, Business Sweden - The Swedish Trade & Invest Council and Responsify, a textile and leather manufacturer. Add a comment Add a comment
