Ethiopian Electric Utility to Build 36-Storey Headquarters
Ethiopian Electric Utility has laid a foundation stone for the building of its 36-storey headquarters. The building, to be built at an estimated cost of 1.2 billion birr, rests on 4,500m2 and takes four years to complete.
The Addis Ababa Revenues Bureau announced that it has collected 31.4 billion birr (close to $632 million) during the first six months of the fiscal year that started July 9, 2021. The amount exceeds the 26.5 billion birr target set for the period by 18 percent.
Safaricom Ethiopia announced that it is building its first data center in Addis Ababa at a cost of $100 million. "In our first year, we have $300 million worth of investment that is going in, [out of] which the data center is just one of the many building blocks," Pedro Rabacal, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Safaricom Ethiopia, said.
Ethiopia has obtained $578 million from coffee exports in six months, the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority announced, with China emerging as the top buyer of Ethiopian coffee.
