Ethiopia has obtained $238 million from the export of manufacturing products during the first half of the current fiscal year, the Ministry of Industry reported. The amount has shown an increase of $51 million, 27 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year.
In a corresponding period last year, the manufacturing sector had generated export revenue of $187.5 million. The $238 million achieved during the first six months of this fiscal year which started on July 8, 2021, stands at 90 percent of the $265 million targeted by the Ministry.
The Ministry of Industry had reported an earning of $203 million from manufacturing exports in five months, the additional $35 million being registered in the additional one-month period.
The amount puts the manufacturing sector third among those that generated over $1.89 billion foreign exchange for Ethiopia during the six-month period.
