Ethiopia's Capital City Collects 31.4Bn Birr 6-Month Revenues, Exceeds Target by 18pct

addis-abaa-revenues-bureau-headThe Addis Ababa Revenues Bureau announced that it has collected 31.4 billion birr (close to $632 million) during the first six months of the fiscal year that started July 9, 2021. The amount exceeds the 26.5 billion birr target set for the period by 18 percent.

23.73 billion birr (against a target of 20.8 billion birr) has been collected from direct tax, while 7.2 billion birr (against a target of 5.7 billion birr) has been collected from indirect tax, Mulugeta Teferra, Head of the Addis Ababa Revenues Bureau, said. Moreover, 469 million birr (against a target of 658 million birr) has been obtained from city administration fees, he pointed out.

Mr. Mulugeta extended thanks in the name of the Bureau to taxpayers who valued their country in these tough times in Ethiopia by paying their taxes on time, who he said are over 95 percent of the total taxpayers.

The achievement was made possible through concerted efforts of all stakeholders, the Bureau head noted.
