Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI) approved the draft commodity agreement which was prepared by Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) to modernize wheat sale transaction. ECX drafted the agreement after analyzing samples that were collected from major wheat producing areas in Oromia, Amhara, SNNPR, and Sidama Regional States. The agreement is expected to play its part in ensuring the shipment of quality wheat to other countries.

Dire Dawa Dry Port and Terminal, which was built at a cost of USD 68 million on 34.1 hectares of land, commenced services on Thursday. The dry port has a capacity to handle 128,000 containers annually when it becomes fully operational and is expected to reduce foreign currency expenditures.

Ethiopost announced that it would launch premium insurance services for customers who transport goods using the postal company’s logistics service. The company’s CEO Hana Arayaselassie also stated that Ethiopost was providing transit e-commerce services across various countries in Africa.

During a stakeholders’ consultation that was organized by the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations, Ethiopian Capital Market Authority, and Ethiopian Securities Exchange under the theme “Ethiopia’s Capital Market”, it was announced that works were underway to license capital market service providers within six months.

Ethiopia attracted USD 2 billion foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first half of the current fiscal year. The figure shows an increment of 22.3% when compared to the first six months of the 2021/2022 fiscal year.

The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia secured a Birr 13 billion profit during the past six months while it collected Birr 58.7 billion in revenue. The bank’s total assets also reached Birr 1.2 trillion and the bank opened 55 new branches increasing the number of its branches in the country to 1,879.

Ethiopost gained a revenue of Birr 568 million in the past six months of the current fiscal year. The company was able to collect the revenue from letter and package deliveries, EMS, logistics, and transport services. Ethiopost’s gross profit also reached Birr 146 million during the same period.
