The Ministry of Industry announced that it was working to replace imported electric cables and transformers with locally produced products during a discussion forum with Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP), Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) and other stakeholders. The institutions have signed a memorandum of understanding which enables them to work together.

The Ethiopian Commodities Exchange (ECX) made a payment of Birr 14 billion during the past seven months using an electronic trading system. ECX started modernizing its payment system 15 years ago by entering agreements with Commercial Bank of Ethiopia and Dashen Bank. It currently works with 19 banks to enhance its trading system.

Ethio Djibouti Standard Gauge Railway S.C. (EDR) has increased its share in national logistics from 11% to 15% by increasing the value and variety of goods its transports. The company was also able to collect Birr 350 million in revenue in January.

Oromia Regional State identified five towns – Chiro, Yabelo, Sendafa, Ambo, and Tefki, to build industry zones. Chiro and Yabelo are chosen for their proximity to Ethio-Djibouti railway and the Kenyan port, respectively, while Sendafa, Ambo, and Tefki are selected considering their proximity to Bole International Airport.

Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) is participating in the International Fabric Fair Paris. The Corporation is promoting Ethiopian industrial parks and investment sectors in which investors will be able to engage in.
The fair which is being held in France is hosting more than 900 companies mainly from Europe, India, China, Indonesia, Japan, Turkey, and various other countries.
