Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI) approved the draft commodity agreement which was prepared by Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) to modernize wheat sale transaction. ECX drafted the agreement after analyzing samples that were collected from major wheat producing areas in Oromia, Amhara, SNNPR, and Sidama Regional States. The agreement is expected to play its part in ensuring the shipment of quality wheat to other countries.
ECX will provide information in wheat starting from the day it commences trading wheat. It is now ready to receive wheat from farmers and suppliers and industries will be allowed to buy the wheat using ECX once they pass the registration process. Most of ECX’s 25 branches are found across regions that are renowned for their wheat productions allowing farmers to easily deliver their produce.
Commodity agreements prepared by ECX for white lupin, cardamom, beans, and rice have also been approved by MoTRI.
