The 6th ICT Exhibition, Bazaar and Conference opened on June 6, 2013 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This year's theme of the event was “ICT for Sustainable Development”.

The exhibition and conference is organized aiming to increase the public’s awareness about ICT and its applications at grassroots level so as to accelerate growth, says Birhane Keleta, Director of the Directorate of Private Sector ICT Development with the Ethiopian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT). The government of Netherlands is to assist Ethiopia to become competitive in the global sesame market by supporting ongoing efforts in Amhara and Tigray regional States.

Ethiopia and Japan signed grant agreements amounting to 1.5 billion Ethiopian Birr  Monday, June 10, 2013, in Addis Ababa.

The Turkish State Railways (TCDD) has agreed to assist Ethiopia in technology transfer, restructuring its railways system and to give training to its personnel.

Ethiopia has asked for assistance from TCDD via the Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) in order to reactivate its railways between the capital Addis Ababa and Djibouti, which has been stopped since 1997.
