Ethiopian Commences Flights to Singapore

Ethiopian AirlinesEthiopian Airlines, the fastest growing Airline in Africa, announces the commencement of a new flight services to Singapore at the inaugural ceremony held at Bole International Airport, Ministerial Salon on December 03, 2013.

Ethiopia and Sudan Inaugurated Transmission Line Interconnecting the Two Countries

powerlinesEthiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir inaugurated the electric transmission line interconnecting the two countries, Xinhua reported.

The inauguration was held on 4 November, 2013, in Geddarif State in eastern Sudan.

Vodacom Group opens Office in Ethiopia

vodacomSouth Africa's Vodacom Group opened its first office in Ethiopia on Tuesday, to establish its presence in a country which have a large market but still maintains a state monopoly over its telecoms sector, Reuters reported.

Ethiopia's state owned Ethio Telecom have a rapidly growing subscribers, totaling almost 650 million last year, up from just 25 million in 2001, according to the World Bank.

Ethiopia Set to Request Sovereign Credit Rating to Attract FDI

creditretingEthiopia is planning to seek a credit rating to attract more foreign investment and to balance the decline in exports, Bloomberg reported.

The Ethiopian government will pick rating companies in the coming weeks to assess the level of risk involved with investing in the country, Finance Minister Sufian Ahmed said in an interview with Bloomberg yesterday in Addis Ababa.
