The Gamo Development Association has unveiled a Birr 50 million modernization project at the historic Arba Minch Crocodile Ranch, the first crocodile farm in East Africa, originally established in 1983 for tourism, biodiversity conservation, research, and job creation.
Ethiopia launched a green economic growth strategy estimated at 150 billion US dollars over 20 years. The program aims to develop Ethiopia into a middle income economy by 2025 without an increase in greenhouse gas emissions.
The strategy is the first of its kind to be implemented in Africa but could be duplicated in other countries said Dr. Ababa Haile-Gabriel, Director of the African Union, Rural Economy and Agriculture Department.
Ethiopia launched a Climate Resilient Green Economy Facility that is expected to equip the nation with a credible instrument meeting international fiduciary standard and requirements for Measuring, Reporting and Verification.
The launch presided by Ahmed Shide, State Minister for Finance and Economic Development was attended by government officials, developmental partners and UN agencies.
The facility is expected to support a strategic approach to climate policy and offer technical and financial support to issues related to climate change reducing the cost and duplication associated with a project centered approach said Ahmed.
Ethiopian Airlines began direct flights from Ethiopia’s northern regions to the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Thursday. It was
announced that the new flight will takeoff to Khartoum from Bahir Dar, capital to the Amhara Regional State and Tigray's Regional State Capital, Mekelle.
Ethiopian Airlines announced that the new flight services will run four days a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and Sundays using Bombardier Q-400 Aircraft.
