A week long training on ensuring aviation safety in Africa kicked off in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Monday, November 4, 2013.

Ethiopian Transport State Minister Getachew Mengiste on the event said, the training plays an important role in ensuring aviation safety in Africa. He said stakeholders in Africa must work in cooperation to address challenges related with aviation safety.

The Ethiopian government has reported US$29 million in export earning from the textile sector for the first, quarter of the current fiscal year, Fortune reported.

The earning exceeded by over 50 percent the US$19 million earned during the same period a year ago.

Harari State has earned over nine million Ethiopian birr revenue from tourists who visited tourist attraction sites in the state during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, the State culture, tourism and heritages bureau said.

Tourism Director with the Bureau Yasmin Zekaria told Ethiopian News Agency on Saturday, over 17,150 foreign and local tourists has visited tourist attractions in the regional state. Some 3,143 of the visitors are foreigners from Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe.

The 28 new industrial investment ventures have a combined capital of over two billion Ethiopian birr.

Ethiopia delayed submission of documents, including its service offer, for its fourth round of negotiations with the working party members of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Fortune reported.

The submissions has been originally scheduled for September, however, it has been postponed for an unspecified time as the documents are not finalized yet.

GMP is a production and testing practice that helps to ensure a quality product.

Ethiopia's Lion Insurance Company registered a 13.08 million Ethiopian birr profits after tax, Fortune reported.

The company's earning grew 34.57 percent compared to the previous year. Its earnings per share (EPS) have also reached to 12.25 birr from 7.85 birr.

The Ethiopian Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI), a private sector initiative to govern ethics and conduct of companies in the country, was launched on Saturday October 26 at the African Union Commission Headquarters, Capital reported.

Tadesse Haile, State minister of Industry (MoI), said at the launching ceremony that most businesses in Ethiopia are still operating under traditional norms of business management and practices.

Review of Ethiopia's Road Sector Development Program (RSDP) in the past 16 years has reveled, the total road network expansion of the country has reached 85,966km, The Reporter reported.

When the program was launched in 1997, Ethiopia's total road coverage standing at 26,550km.

Angel’s Cotton & Textile Production PLC – a Turkish textile company is to launch production of textile products in January, 2014, Fortune reported.

The factory is being construed in Legetafo Industrial Zone, 25kms from Addis Abeba, in Oromia Regional State, on a 2.5 hectare plot.
