Ethiopia: PPESA Earned 1.7 Billion Birr

The Privatization and Public Enterprises Supervising Agency (PPESA) announced that it has earned 1.7 billion birr from privatization of state-owned enterprises, previous sales arrears and state dividend from privatized companies, according to The Ethiopian Herald.

Briefing journalists on the Agency's six month performance yesterday, General Manager Beyne Gebre-Meskel said that privatizing public enterprises and state dividend are the Agency's major sources of income. Accordingly, the Agency has earned 1.2 billion birr from sale of public enterprises, 100 million birr from pervious sales arrears, and 400 million birr accrued from state dividends.

Over the past 20 years, the PPESA has privatized 365 public enterprises.
