Ethiopia: Oromia Identifies Five Towns for Industry Zones

Oromia

Oromia Regional State identified five towns – Chiro, Yabelo, Sendafa, Ambo, and Tefki, to build industry zones. Chiro and Yabelo are chosen for their proximity to Ethio-Djibouti railway and the Kenyan port, respectively, while Sendafa, Ambo, and Tefki are selected considering their proximity to Bole International Airport.

The towns have made 400 hectares of land available for the project. The industry zones are expected to increase the income of the society who resides around the zones, facilitate market linkages, and create job opportunities for 75,000 citizens after completion.

It is envisaged that investors will be able to produce in the zones by renting or constructing manufacturing sheds.
