Ethiopian Airlines has announced that it is in the final stages of preparations for the establishment of Nigeria's national airline. The airline will be a joint venture between Ethiopian Airlines and three Nigerian investors, with Ethiopian Airlines holding a 49% share.

The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) has announced that it will grant licenses to five foreign banks to operate in Ethiopia. The aim is to bring foreign banks into the country while also supporting the development of local financial institutions.

The Federal Public Procurement and Property Authority (PPPA) has announced that starting from July 2023, 169 federal institutions will conduct their procurement electronically. The electronic procurement system (EPS) is designed to eliminate corruption and malpractices, and prevent budget embezzlement. It is expected that up to 25% of unnecessary expenses will be avoided after the system starts to be implemented.

The United Kingdom has launched a new trade framework program that aims to benefit 65 countries, including Ethiopia, by easing trade regulations and taxes for these countries. The UK International Trade Minister, Nigel Huddleston, announced the new trade plan which is expected to allow developing countries to export a wide range of goods duty-free to the UK in Addis Ababa.

Ethiopia and South Sudan have signed a new agreement for air transportation services that will replace the temporary permission that was previously granted. The agreement was signed by the Director General of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority and his counterpart from the Government of South Sudan.

Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Services Enterprise’s (ESLSE) two oil tankers named Bahr Dar and Hawassa, which were bought 11 years ago to carry the country's oil, have been replaced by Abay 2, a huge ship with a loading capacity of 63,500 tons.

Addis Ababa Trade Bureau is constructing new shopping centers and expanding existing ones in all five entrance areas of the city to combat price inflation and product shortages. Mr. Mesfen Assefa, the Deputy Head of the Bureau, stated that the new shopping centers would be located in Aqaqi, Sebeta, Ambo, Sululta, and Tafo gates, where agricultural products are widely used.

Mekele Industrial Park has completed preparatory works and is now ready to resume full operations, according to Fitsum Ketma, the Head of Transformation Department at the Industrial Parks Development Corporation of Ethiopia (IPDC). Fitsum emphasized that IPDC had been working diligently by sending a team to Mekele city to monitor the status of the Industrial Park and undertake necessary preparatory works to restore it to full operations.
