Ethiopia Aims to Collect Birr 529 Billion in Taxes

MoR Tax

For the current fiscal year, the Ministry of Revenues (MoR) has set a goal of collecting Birr 529 billion in taxes. This represents a 17% increase over the prior fiscal year.

Minister of MoR Aynalem Nugussie stated in a meeting with high taxpayers that Birr 442 billion—out of the anticipated Birr 450 billion—was collected for the finished fiscal year. High taxpayers contributed Birr 176 billion of the total money received.

Minister Aynalem stated that the amount of money collected in taxes and other sources of income has fallen short of what the nation needs to prosper. In order to meet the goal of collecting Birr 529 billion in tax income during the current Ethiopian fiscal year, measures are now being undertaken.
