Ethiopia: Qatari Investors Met With Premier

Qatari delegation team of investors led by Former Prime Minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, paid visit to Ethiopia and met with Ethiopia’s Premier, Hailemariam Desalegn.

During their meeting, Ethiopia’s Premier extended an offer for the investors to invest in Ethiopia. “Ethiopia wants Qatari investors to engage in a number of investment sectors. We have plenty and huge investment potentials,” Hailemariam said.

Ethiopia: Oromia to Create 800,000 Jobs

Oromia State of Ethiopia plans to create more than 800 thousand job opportunities with an investment of 2.4 billion Birr. The job opportunities are said to be created in the coming months of the current fiscal year.

The project aims to engage the youth in manufacturing, mechanized agriculture, construction, and mining. In order to achieve this, 200 tractors, 1,400 water pumps and 101 crushers have been prepared.

Electricity Sales Brought 123 Million USD for Ethiopia

During the last 8 months of the current fiscal year, Ethiopia earned about 123 million USD, which is equivalent to 2.6 billion Birr, from the sale of electricity both for the local market and international market.

While presenting to the House of Peoples’ Representative, Motuma Mekassa, Minister for Water, Irrigation and Electricity, said “the Ethiopian Electric Service in general has collected a total of 2.6 billion birr in eight months, achieving 82 per cent of its target.”
