Qatari delegation team of investors led by Former Prime Minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, paid visit to Ethiopia and met with Ethiopia’s Premier, Hailemariam Desalegn.

During their meeting, Ethiopia’s Premier extended an offer for the investors to invest in Ethiopia. “Ethiopia wants Qatari investors to engage in a number of investment sectors. We have plenty and huge investment potentials,” Hailemariam said.

Hailemariam also explained to the investors that they could engage in light rail projects, renewable energy and sugar projects.

Speaking on his part, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani said Qatari investors were keen to take part in the investment opportunities served by Ethiopia. “My visit is to explore the investment potentials existed in Ethiopia,” he furthered.

According to Ambassador Berhane Gebrekristos, Special Envoy of the Prime Minister with the rank of Minister, the two countries agreed to boost their investment relations. In addition to this ,they also agreed to cooperate in stabilizing the Horn of Africa and making it favorable for investment.
