Ethiopian Ministry of Revenues Collects Over 70Bn Birr in Frist Quarter of This FY
The Ethiopian Ministry of Revenues announced it has collected over 70.11 billion birr during the first quarter of the Ethiopian fiscal year that started July 8, 2021. The amount stands at 91.24 percent of the over 76.84 billion birr revenue collection target the Ministry had set for the period.
Dire Dawa Industrial Park, located in eastern Ethiopia, announced it has generated over $7.8 million in revenues from export items in its first year of operations.
Ambassador Redwan Hussein, Ethiopia's State Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a discussion with Shell H. Choo, CEO of the Korean company EKOS STEEL Mill PLC. During their discussion, the CEO called for the government's continued support, and said his company is working with the Ethiopian embassy in Seoul to attract similar companies in Korea to invest in Ethiopia.
Ethiopia's first smar tcard manufacturing plant, owned by the local firm Lootah Industries PLC, announced it will start operations in November 2021. The plant will produce GSM SIM cards and supply the cards to Ethio Telecom as per its agreement with the telecom company.
The first mortgage bank in Ethiopia, Goh Betoch Bank, has officially started services in Addis Ababa. The bank has been established with the intent to fully focus on the provision of loans for house construction.
