First Lady Zinash Tayachew has handed the factory, which is located in Lemi-Kura Sub City, to Adanech Abiebie, Mayor of the City of Addis Ababa.

The bread and flour factory is built at a cost of 217 million birr and resting on 6,000m2 of land, in addition to the million loaves of bread every day, has a capacity of producing 72 tons of flour per day, the Office of the First Lady said in a tweet. The factor is expected to create an employment opportunity for 450 people when it goes fully operational.

The Office of the First Lady has also announced its plan to build bread and flour factories of a similar fashion in ten cities across Ethiopia. The ten factories, each, will have a capacity of producing 300,000 loaves of bread and 400 quintals of flour per day.

Sheger Bread Factory, built at a cost of 900 million birr and having a capacity of producing 1.5 million loaves of bread per day, was inaugurated in Addis Ababa in June last year. However, the MIDROC owned factory, reportedly, is not yet producing at its full capacity.
