Ethiopia: Bole International Airport to Install New Baggage Handling System
The Ethiopian Airports Enterprise (EAE) announced it is going to install a new baggage handling system (BHS) at the Bole International Airport. EAE said the new BHS is to be built at the cost of 92 Million Birr and the construction will commence on September 2014.
Bole Lemi Industrial Park saved Birr 2 billion by producing goods which substituted import products. Among the park’s manufacturing companies, Soufflet Malt and BGI, a Chinese company, take the lion’s share in the production of import substituting products. Soufflet’s malt production has fully substituted import malt while BGI’s Covid-19 testing kits have saved the country from spending foreign currency on foreign made testing products.
Bombardier Transport concluded a contract with Yapi Merkezi, the Turkish construction company working on design and construction of Ethiopia’s 400 Kilometers Awash-Weldia line, to supply the mainline signalling solution for the project. The agreement concluded between the two is worth approximately U.S. $ 45 Million.
Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s biggest airline, has inaugurated its brand new ultra modern Boeing 787 simulator, according to Fana Broadcasting Corporate.
