Ethiopia has earned US$663.7 million from tourists who visited tourists sites across the country during the just ended Ethiopian fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Speaking at the opening of a consultative meeting in Robe Town, Bale Zone of Oromia Region on Monday, State Minister Tadelech Dalecho said the revenue was secured from more than 629,000 foreigners, who visited historical, natural and religious attractions in the country.
Shipment of avocado grown by Ethiopian local cooperative unions has been sent off to Europe, specifically the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK. Over 100 smallholder farmers are represented by the cooperative unions.
The Ministry of Agriculture disclosed that Ethiopia would start exporting wheat to East African countries including Kenya, Djibouti, and South Sudan. According to Isais Lemma, Director of Crop Development at the Ministry, Ethiopia has met the national demand for wheat after increasing wheat productivity.
