Ethiopia generated USD 71 million in the past 9 months from electricity export. The Ministry of Water and Energy stated that efforts were being made to overcome the foreign currency shortage in the country by increasing income from the sale of electricity. The country was able to export 10,725 Gigawatts of power during the same period.
Ethiopia has earned USD 908 million from coffee exports over the past six months, exceeding its target, according to the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA).
Aisha Mohammed, Ethiopia’s Minister of Urban Development and Construction, announced Ethiopia has embarked on 12 new projects aimed at bringing meaningful changes in urban areas. The minister made the announcement during her discussion with Maimunah Mohd Sharif, Executive Director of UN‐Habitat.
Ethiopia has emerged to be the fastest-growing travel destination in the world in 2019. Two other East African nations, Kenya and Rwanda, have also made it to the top ten list. As a continent, Africa stands second fastest-growing travel destination, second only to Asia-Pacific.
Ethiopia has passed a resolution to enact the Ethiopian Space Policy into law. This will enable Ethiopia to make use of outer space for peaceful purposes, especially enabling it to use space technologies as a stepping stone to overcome economic and social issues it faces.
