Karel Electronics of Turkey signed an agreement on Monday with View Computer Engineering, an Ethiopia IT
company, to work in partnership and to sell Karel’s IT products in Ethiopia.
It was pointed out during the signing of the agreement that in the long run the Turkish company might start assembling its products here and that the agreement could pave the way for such a venture.
Eczacibasi, a well known Turkish company, is keen to invest in Ethiopia. During a meeting between the State Minster for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Akililu Hailemicheal, and the representatives of the company, the investors mentioned that they use Ethiopia as a main gate to invest in Africa.
The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is going to make an official visit to Ethiopia later this month.
Turkish business tycoons are expected to come with Nihat Zeybekci, Turkey’s Economic Minister, during his visit to Ethiopia. According to Ayalew Gobeze, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Turkey, the Economic Minister’s trip to Ethiopia is scheduled for some time in the coming month.
Istanbul Gas Cylinder Manufacturing Plc of Turkey is going to start distributing liquid petroleum gas (LPG) as of
next week. The company is a joint venture with TIRET, the Amhara Endowment Fund.
Istanbul Gas has taken a one hectare plot of land out of 130 owned by TIRET in Sheno, Ahmara Regional State, for filling cylinders with LPG.
Istanbul Gas has already imported 22,000 tonnes of gas from Sudan and four depots through which 6,000 cylinders will be filled, Nuzet Erdogan, owner and general manager of the company, said.
