Shopping Mall for Electronics Opens in Ethiopia

Country Tower, a shopping mall dedicated to electronic and IT equipment was opened in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The six-storey building constructed at a total cost of 65 million birr is to be found on Wawel Street opposite the Cathedral High School.

The mall is designed to offer all IT items and electronic products at one place as well as offering office space for businesses engaged in technology related work according to Daniel Mamo, Project Manager of the mall.

The mall is expected to cater to the convenience of clients seeking different types of electronic gadgets or IT equipment by eliminating the need to search in different place explained Daniel.

Twenty shops of a total of 52 located on the first three floors of the building as well as 15 offices, making up half of the available office space were rented out in the first week after the building was opened said Nega Abraha Manger of Country House Trading plc.

A square meter of commercial space is being let for 491 birr on the first floor, 352 birr on the second and 345 birr on the third floor according to Nega.

The building is also equipped with a 30 square meter cinema designed to seat 250-300 viewers and a parking lot for 60 cars on the two basement levels.

The building may let some spaces for mixed use purposes should all spaces not be taken by IT or electronic related businesses noted Nega.
