The Ethiopian Ministry of Industry signed with 13 local contractors for construction projects at Bole Lemi Industrial Park. The agreements signed are part of the 1.2 billion birr civil works project at the park.

The projects which include the construction of five industrial sheds, four office blocks are intended to be completed within three months from the day the agreement was signed.

The contractors were selected by the MoI on the basis of their performance on other government projects and not through the usual bidding process because of the need to finalize the project within a short period of time said Tadesse Haile, Minister of State for Industry.

The Ethiopian Ministry of Trade is to entrust its trade name registrations and licensing services to sub cities in Addis Ababa and regional states.

Previously businesses are required to approach the headquarters of the Ministry of Trade to get their trade names registered and obtain business license.

Ethiopia's Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Innovation and Technology signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the intent of advancing a coffee trade system. Omer Hussien, Minister of Agriculture, and Abraham Belay (Ph.D.), Minister of Innovation and Technology, inked the MoU on behalf of their minister offices.

The Ethiopian Ministry of Urban Development & Construction (MoUCD) has drafted a regulation to establish the Ethiopian Construction Project Management Institute.

The draft regulation, which will be submitted to the Council of Ministers in few weeks time, is said to ensure the effective implementation of construction projects in Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian Ministry of Urban Development and Construction had finalized a draft directive to make changes on the fixed rate pricing system currently applicable to all contractors working on government projects.

The directive will shorten the revision period of prices of construction materials and labor to three to six months, unlike the current practice where adjustments takes between nine month to a year and half.
