The Ethiopian Quality Award Organization announced that it is reviewing and revising its evaluation model to ensure it remains relevant and internationally competitive.
The Ethiopian Quality Awards honored nine organizations with awards for quality in a ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel in the presence of Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hailemariam Desalegn.
The excellence awards were given to Biruh Tesfa Irrigation and Water Technology, Bishoftu Hospital, Dashen Brewery, Harar Brewery, Kality Metal Factory and Kombolcha Textile SC, while Betel Teaching Hospital and Mekelle University and Kombolcha Steel Products Industry were the recipients of merit awards.
The Ethiopian Quality Award announced that it has finished its preparations to start the registration of organizations for the third national quality award at the end of the year.
The registration will start in the mid of December 2012 according to Michael Melaku, managing director of EQA.
Manufacturers, constriction companies, service providers, profit making and non-profit making organizations are all invited to compete. EQA has also prepared a self assessment manual for competitors for the first time this year according to the announcement.
