The Ethiopian Quality Award Organization announced that it is reviewing and revising its evaluation model to ensure it remains relevant and internationally competitive.
The organization said the revised model is intended to help Ethiopian manufacturing and service companies become more desirable and capable of competing in the global market. It noted that the update includes new benchmarking standards that align with current international market demands and quality expectations.
According to the organization, the newly revised framework introduces additional assessment criteria that were not previously included, particularly in areas related to operational systems and the effective use of technology.
The organization also stated that the ability to understand and apply artificial intelligence has been introduced as part of the evaluation standards, reflecting the growing role of AI in improving efficiency, service delivery, and business competitiveness.
The update was disclosed by Tewodros Mebrat, Chief Executive Officer of the Ethiopian Quality Award Organization, who said the ongoing review aims to strengthen performance standards for both manufacturing and service companies.
He also indicated that European Union standards relevant to coffee exporters have been incorporated into the revised model, highlighting the importance of aligning domestic evaluation tools with international export requirements.
The Ethiopian Quality Award Organization further stated that companies previously awarded its Excellence Cup have improved their ability to compete internationally, and the revised rating model is expected to be finalized and announced within the coming days.
