Ethiopian Planning to Buy or Lease Additional Six 787 Dreamliner Passenger Jets
Ethiopian Airlines is planning to buy or lease up to six more 787 Dreamliner passenger jets by 2018 as it expands its destinations in Asia and South America, its CEO told Reuters.
"We are looking at another five or six by 2017/18. We always maintain a 60/40 percent balance, with 60 percent owned and 40 percent leased," Tewolde Gebremariam said on the sidelines of a global airline industry conference.
Ethiopian Airlines is considering to order 10-20 narrowbody jets, its CEO told Reuters on Monday.
Ethiopian Airlines said it is "in the final stage" to return the B737 MAX fleet to service, with the first flight expected on 01 February 2022.
A delegation led by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a series of meetings with development partners to discuss opportunities for investments and support to various initiatives.
