An irrigation dam project worth 3.8 billion birr was launched yesterday by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. The project which is named Rib is situated in South Gondar Zone of Amhara Regional State and has the capacity to hold 234 million cubic meters of water. Rib is expected to develop 20,000 hectares of land and benefit 40,000 farmers. It is also believed that it will protect Lake Tana from alluvial deposits, especially from soils formed in the river valleys.

The project which started with 1.3 billion birr in 2008 has a six year overdue irrespective of the initial plan included finalizing and delivering within four years of time.

Ethio telecom and Hybrid Designs have partnered to utilize telebirr digital payment system with a view to integrating telecom and telebirr services with RIDE transport service. The two companies signed an agreement that will enable RIDE transport service providers to collect monthly ethio telecom and utility bill payments, register new telebirr customers, upgrade telebirr customer levels, provide cash in and cash out services, and sell airtime and package services.

RIDE’s founder and CEO Samrawit Fikru said that her company was working with its drivers to change their cars with electric vehicles. According to the CEO, the transition of the vehicles of more than 40,000 drivers of RIDE from gas powered cars into electric cars will help the economy of the country by saving foreign exchange that is used to import oil.

Caterpillar Inc., a US-based heavy equipment manufacturing company, introduced its newest range of different capacity Caterpillar generators for the Ethiopian market on Wednesday, April, 22, 2015 at an event held at the Sheraton Addis.

The two road projects that links east and west part of Tigray Regional State, in northern Ethiopia is inaugurated on May 12, 2015, according to Ethiopian News Agency.
