Ethiopia collected USD 250 million over the past seven months by exporting oilseeds and grains. Sesame, Niger, and Castor bean were the most exported oilseeds while soybean claimed the lion’s share in the export of grains.

The Development Bank of Ethiopia (DBE) announced that it was ready to launch the fourth round of the National Training Program of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises. The bank registered 435 thousand applicants for the training while its target was to train 50 thousand individuals.

BGI Ethiopia, a subsidiary of the Castel Group, injected Birr 500 million into Meto Abo Brewery. BGI’s investment is used to remodel and expand the Brewery by enhancing the company’s capacity and improving its brand. The company is purchasing new machineries and generators which are expected to increase production capacity.

Ethiopia earned a revenue of USD 57.73 million in the past seven months from exporting 10,434 tons of meat and meat by-products. The country was also able to gain close to USD 1.5 million from honey, wax, and camel milk during the same period. Goat meat was the most exported type of meat which registered USD 50.2 million from the total revenue gained from meat export.

The internet offers up a world of opportunity, but it isn’t without risk. As more children and young people get online, it’s important that we’re skilled up on how to keep them safe.
Last year, a groundbreaking report called ‘Disrupting Harm’ played a key role in helping us understand the online risks facing children in Ethiopia.
The UNICEF-supported research found that young people were engaging in a number of risky online activities including sending personal information – such as full name, address, or phone number – to someone online whom they have never met in person, meeting in person someone whom they first knew online but was unknown to them in the offline world, and sending a sexual image or video of themselves to someone on the internet.
