AGY, a company that produces table salt, has announced its plans to start manufacturing table salt at Semera Industrial Park. Once AGY reaches full capacity, it is expected that it will create more than 350 job opportunities for citizens.

Ethiopian Airlines resumed flights to Karachi yesterday, a significant commercial city in Pakistan. The flight carried a delegation of high-ranking government officials, led by the State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arega, who are expected to finalize various agreements and sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in the tourism and technology sectors between the two countries.

Benishangul Gumuz Regional State has made available 69,000 hectares of land for investors interested in various sectors, including agriculture and tourism. Amente Geshi, the Head of Benishangul Gumuz Regional Land and Investment Bureau, noted that investors had many options in which they could invest in Benishangul Gumuz, including mineral resources, coal, gold, marble, granite, incense production, and horticulture.

Ten local companies with a capital of over Birr 8.2 billion Birr have signed agreements with the Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) to operate in the industrial parks. The agreement aims to increase private sector engagement in IPDC and encourage local companies. Five of the ten companies will be engaged in manufacturing pharmaceuticals.

Ethiopia generated USD 71 million in the past 9 months from electricity export. The Ministry of Water and Energy stated that efforts were being made to overcome the foreign currency shortage in the country by increasing income from the sale of electricity. The country was able to export 10,725 Gigawatts of power during the same period.

The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) has reported a decrease in the amount of gold it has received during the current fiscal year. The bank received 2,684 kilograms of gold during the past nine months of the fiscal year out of the planned 10,000 kilograms of gold representing a 62.5 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. The data of the Ministry of Mines shows that the country has produced 2.68 tons of gold in the current fiscal year.

During the first nine months of the current Ethiopian fiscal year, the country granted investment licenses for 15 foreign and 29 domestic companies that would participate in the development, exploration, and production of minerals.
