United Insurance SC reported 59.87 million Ethiopian birr profit after tax in the 2012/13 fiscal year, a 65 percent growth over its performance reported a year earlier, according to Fortune.
The company made the announcement on October 24, 2013, at the Hilton Hotel, during the company’s general assembly.

Pan-African banking group Ecobank Transnational has opened its first branch in Ethiopia, Reuters reported.
The opening of the branch offices is said to help the bank establish its presence in the fast-growing East African economy and extending its African network to 35 countries.

Investment license and registration expert with the office, Beteha Abebayehu said, the projects are in the areas of trade, construction, industry, service as well as hospitality and tourism sector.

Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest growing and most profitable African airline, will take delivery of the first of its four Boeing 777-300ERs on 7 November 2013.
The B777-300ER is the largest aircraft in the airline’s fleet with 400 passengers seating capacity.
