Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) concluded contracts with 3 different local companies for the construction and upgrade 3 roads at an outlay of 2.7 billion Birr. The companies that signed the agreement with ERA Afro Tsion Construction PLC, Rama Construction PLC and Orchid Business Group.

The World Bank’s Executive Board today approved a new $150 million project to increase the efficiency of trade logistics in Ethiopia. The project will focus on improving the Modjo Dry Port, a key transportation hub that handles 95% of Ethiopia’s trade, but which is a major bottleneck on the vital Ethio-Djibouti trade corridor.

It will support the Government of Ethiopia’s (GoE) efforts to develop the country’s standardization practice, metrology, accreditation, and conformity assessment services—inspection, testing, and certification.
