Ethiopia: Year on Year Inflation Reached 8.5 Percent

Central Statics Agency (CSA) reported Ethiopia’s year on year inflation has rose to 8.5 percent in March. In February the inflation rate was 7 percent.

Food inflation rate has reached 9.6 percent for food during the period. In the previous month the inflation rate for food was 7.8 percent.

During the month of March, it was noticed that the prices of cereals, vegetables, pulses, potatoes and other tubers, especially Kocho, as well as coffee increased. The price hike in these food items was said to have attributed to the inflation rate in March.

Non-fool inflation on the other hand rose by 7.3 percent from 6.2 percent in February. The inflation was attributed to the rise in the price of clothing, footwear, firewood, household goods and furniture.
