Ethiopia’s Ministry of Agriculture announced that the Dire Dawa fertilizer plant in Eastern Ethiopia, which will soon go operational, will be instrumental in fulfilling Ethiopia’s increasing demand for fertilizers upon its completion in two years. The construction of the fertilizer plant went into full action in the year 2017 with a total expected cost of $3.7 billion.
Two multinational mobile companies will obtain telecom licenses to operate in Ethiopia, a senior government official announced. This is the first detailed announcement of the government’s plans for opening one of the world’s last major closed telecom markets.

The 2019 edition of Africa’s top hotel conference, Africa Hotel Investment Forum (AHIF), will be held in September in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. AHIF is the premier hotel investment conference in Africa, attracting many prominent international hotel owners, investors, financiers, management companies and their advisers, according to a statement from the organizer, Bench Events.
Chinese investors from the city of Kunshan, located in the Jiangsu province of China, are to build an industrial park solely for textile production in the Ethiopian city of Dire Dawa. The project will cost some half billion USD.
