The Ministry of Industry announced that three Integrated Agro Industrial Parks (IAIPs), Bure, Bulbula, and Yirgalem, were open to investors. Bure IAIP, which is situated in Amhara Regional State and built at a cost of Birr 8 billion, has already attracted the interest of 103 investors.
The price cap on sesame seeds trading at the Ethiopian Commodities Exchanges (ECX) was lifted last week. The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI) disclosed the decision to Capital Newspaper citing inflation on the product which led to the removal of the price cap. However, Kassahun Gofe, MoTRI State Minister, indicated that the Ministry might reintroduce the price cap if extraordinary price surges appeared.
Mines Resource Development Bureau of Amhara Regional State gave inspection licenses to 11 investors who would engage in cement manufacturing. The investors are expected to start construction after concluding their tests. Two companies have already started constructing their factories.

Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) announced that Ethiopia was working towards establishing special economic zones with a view to improving international trade connectivity and attracting foreign direct investment. To realize this goal, a draft proclamation on special economic zones is prepared which is aimed at promoting regional and international trade relations by enhancing the environment of free trade zones and industrial parks.
