Dire Dawa is witnessing a surge in investment activity, with investors who registered capital exceeding Birr 60 billion during the first half of the fiscal year now commencing operations, according to the city's Commerce, Industry, and Investment Bureau.
The Ethiopian Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Ethiopian Sugar Corporation, has issued an invitation of sealed responses to its Request for Information (RFI), aimed at "completing the necessary pre-privatization activities" of 13 sugar projects. Some of the mentioned projects are fully completed and operational, while the rest are partially completed.

The Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) has launched a new service called "Golden Reception," which offers VIP reception to foreign direct investors coming to Ethiopia to conduct business in the industrial parks and Dire Dawa Free Trade Zone.
Three manufacturing companies which are engaged in pharmaceutical packaging, oxygen and nitrogen production, and printing signed an agreement with Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) to start production at Jimma town, Kilinto Industrial Park, and Addis Industrial Village.
Th companies have a capital of Birr 11 billion and are expected to create employment opportunities for 600 citizens.
