2 mining companies concluded extraction agreements with Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoMPNG) on April 27, 2016 to mine in Ethiopia. The companies are Letto Mining Ltd and Lozbez Mining Plc.
From the entire 8 tunnels being drilled on the Meqelle – Woldia/ Hara Gebeya railway project, one the mega projects in Ethiopia, 2 tunnels that are each 2 kilometers long have been holed through. This was disclosed by the project’s head, Gebremedhin Gebrealif.
2,415 small and micro enterprises (SMEs) found in Ethiopia are to be awarded by the Federal Job Opportunity and Urban Food Security Agency.
During the first six months of the current fiscal year, Federal Cooperative Agency managed to set up 2,807 cooperatives that are equipped with 167 million Birr capital.
According to Usman Sirur, Director General of the Agency, the plan was to establish 2,043 new cooperatives that have a total capital of 186 million Birr. Yet the Agency managed to set up more cooperatives with a lesser capital.
Ethiopia and Morocco signed an agreement in the aim of constructing an integrated fertilizer production plant worth 2.5 billion USD. The agreement was signed by OCP Group, global leader in the phosphate industry, on Morocco’s side while Minister for Public Enterprises represented Ethiopia.
