Around 150 Sheger City Busses will start giving services in Ethiopia’s capital by May, Addis Ababa Road and Transport Bureau announced.
Contract for the purchase of 300 buses was concluded between the Addis Ababa City Administration and Metals and Engineering Corporation (METEC). The buses were purchased for 1.1 billion Birr.
According to Yabebal Addis, Head of the Bureau, the city administration will take delivery of 150 buses by May to start giving transport services. The rest 150 buses would start giving service by the coming fiscal year, he furthered.
The 42 seat buses have global positioning systems (GPS) installed along with security cameras. They are said to be conducive for pregnant women, children and people with disabilities and have the capacity to accommodate more than 100 commuters.
