Ethiopia: 11 Billion Birr Budget for Urban Infrastructure

Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) disclosed it managed to construct 1198.9 kilometers of road across Ethiopia in the past 9 months of the current fiscal year.
12 construction companies are competing against one another for attender floated for the construction of 3 general hospitals in Ethiopia’s capital. The tender is said to be worth 3.6 billion Birr.
The Ethiopian Ministry of Water and Energy said over 13,200 home solar systems has been installed in rural areas which are not connected to the national electric grid system over the past nine months.
Public relation and communication director with the Ministry, Bizuneh Tolcha told Ethiopian News Agency, that the installation is part of the year long project which was launched in December 2012 at a cost of 208.8 million Ethiopian birr secured from World Bank. He said the project so far has benefited more than 13,200 households across the country.
Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise (ECAE) certified 14 bottled water brands that are manufactured in Ethiopia. This is out of the total 33 bottled water brands which are produced in Ethiopia.
