The batch of apartments built under the 40/60 housing scheme were inaugurated on Saturday, March 11, 2017 by Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Hailemariam Dessalegn. The total number apartments inaugurated were only 1,292, all constructed in Senga Tera and Crown sites.

According to Fana Broadcasting Corporation, the houses will be transferred in the near future following lottery draw.

In addition to the houses built under the 40/60 housing scheme, 39,000 houses built under 10/90 and 20/80 housing schemes were inaugurated, Addis Ababa Housing Development and Administration Bureau explained. These houses are already transferred to the beneficiaries.

The plan by Ministry of Urban Development and Housing for the current fiscal year was to transfer 18,469 apartment built under 40/60 housing scheme. However, the Ministry seems to be short of 17,198 apartments to meet this target.
