Ethiopia's FDI Reaches $3.9 Bn in Concluded Fiscal Year
The Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) announced that Ethiopia has attracted foreign direct investment (FDI) amounting to $3.9 billion during the fiscal year that ended on July 7, 2021. Compared to the previous year, the figure has shown an increase of almost a billion dollars, by over 34 percent.
Ethiopia's Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide, and his team have conferred with Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, the public blockchain platform, and co-founder of Ethereum.

ZamZam Bank, the first full-fledged interest-free bank in Ethiopia has been officially launched, following its obtaining of operational license from the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE). The bank is poised to operate under Sharia compliance, barring all forms of interest.
The first mortgage bank in Ethiopia, Goh Betoch Bank, has officially started services in Addis Ababa. The bank has been established with the intent to fully focus on the provision of loans for house construction.
