Ethiopia's Shipping Enterprise Slashed Freight Rates
The state owned Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise (ESLSE) has announced new marine freight-rate, effective July 1, 2013.
The new rate adjustment includes a 6 per cent discount on 20 feet containers and an 8 per cent decrease on 40 feet containers.
With a vision of placing Ethiopia among the top 100 ‘Doing Business’ ranking countries by 2021, the national committee led by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, comprising key government entities, is conducting a review of the key reforms undertaken over the past few months towards creating a conducive business environment.
Ethiopia has secured over $1.89 billion from exports during the first half of the Ethiopian fiscal year that started July 8, 2021. The amount has shown an increase of $322.5 million, 20.5 percent, compared to the same period last year.
Ethiopia has obtained $578 million from coffee exports in six months, the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority announced, with China emerging as the top buyer of Ethiopian coffee.
Ethiopia's six-month horticulture earnings have increased by 20% to $286 million compared to last year's export performance, the Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association (EHPEA) announced.
