Ethiopia Earns USD 408.2 Million from Horticulture Exports in Ten Months

Ethiopia secured USD 41.8 million from exporting 5,900 tons of meat products. Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait are among the top destinations for Ethiopian meat. According to Ethiopian Agricultural Authority, Ethiopia has the potential to export 200 thousand tons of meat per year.

Ethiopia’s Livestock Development Institute has announced that the country generated USD 43 million from the export of animal products over the past five months. The revenue marks a 60% increase compared to the same period last year, highlighting the growing significance of the sector in the country's foreign exchange earnings.

Ethiopia has earned USD 546 million from the export of more than 80,000 tons of coffee over the past two months, according to the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority.

The Ministry of Agriculture has launched the National Horticulture Strategy and the Flagship Program for Plantation Development, aiming to boost Ethiopia’s horticulture sub-sector over the next decade.
