Ethiopia has earned US$123.44 million from export of leather products in the concluded Ethiopian Fiscal Year, according to the Ethiopian Leather Industry Development Institute.
Wondu Legesse, Director General of the institute, told Walta Information Center today that the export earnings came from finished leather products such as, footwear, gloves and other products.The Ethiopian Ministry of Industry announced, more than US$135 million has been earned from the manufacturing sector in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
Ministry Communications Corporate Directorate Director, Melaku Taye, told Walta Information Center, that the stated amount was secured from the exports of textile and garment, leather and leather products, meat and dairy products as well as food, beverage and pharmaceutical products.
Ethiopia has earned US$2.8 billion from export of various commodities during the past 11 months, according to the Ministry of Trade (MoT).
Ministry Corporate Communication Directorate Directore, Amakele Yimam, told Walta Information Center that the country has exported 37, 358 tonnes of agricultural produces, manufacturing, minerals and other products during the stated period.Ethiopia has earned US$281 million from the manufacturing sector during the concluded fiscal year, the Ministry of Industry said.
Corporate Communication Director with the Ministry, Melaku Taye told Ethiopian News Agency over the weekend that the stated sum secured during the reported period is 52 percent of the US$542.4 million target set by the ministry.Ethiopia has earned US$419 million from export of minerals supplied by artisanal miners in the 11 months of the current Ethiopian Fiscal Year, according to the Ministry of Mines.
The earning is 30 percent short of the Ministry’s revised projection for the period.
