Ethiopia earned US$44 million from the export of leather and leather products in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, the Ethiopian Leather Industry Development Institute said.
Institute Corporate Communication Directorate Director, Berhanu Sirjabo, told Walta Information Center, the amount was earned from the export of finished leather, footwear, leather gloves and other leather products.
n in the just ended Ethiopian Fiscal Year, short of US$255 of the target set by the Ministry of Mines for the budget year. The revenue has also decreased by US$61 million compared to earnings of same period last Ethiopian Fiscal Year.
The decrease is said to be as a result of price fall of gold in the global market, which causes companies in Ethiopia to reduce their gold export, according to Sinkinesh Ijigu, Minister of Mines.Ethiopian Horticulture Development Agency (EHDA) disclosed Ethiopia earned a total of USD 114 million from horticultural export in during the first half of the current fiscal year.
Ministry of Mines disclosed in the first six months of the current fiscal year, Ethiopia earned a total of USD 157.4 Million from the export of mineral products.
Ethiopia earned USD 2.1 billion USD from exported products against the estimated 3.66 billion USD. According to Wondimu Flate, PR Head at the Ministry of Trade, a 1.58 billion USD deficiency was observed during the first three quarters of the current fiscal year.
