The Ethiopian Ministry of Revenues announced that it has collected over 221 billion birr in revenues in eight months. The amount is 92.16 percent of the 240.34 billion birr target set for the period, the Ministry noted.
The Revenues and Customs Authority in Ethiopia collected 52.93 billion birr from non-tax and tax income in the last nine months.
ERCA collected 26.4 billion birr making up 90.87% of its target of 29.13 billion birr in tax and non-tax revenue domestically said Efrem Mekonnen, Director of the Education and Information Directorate with the tax authority.
The revenue raised has shown a 47.7% increase from the same period last budget year according to Efrem.
The Ethiopian Revenues and Customs Authority collected approximately 71 billion birr in the 2011-12 budget year according
to a tentative report released by the authority.
ERCA collected 36.1 million from domestic taxes, 34.5 billion birr from customs and duties and 96.7 million from lotteries noted the report.
The revenue collected by the authority exceeded its performance in the previous financial year by 16 billion birr although it fell short of the 76 billion birr projected for the fiscal year.
Ethiopia's Ministry of Revenues has collected over 147.36 billion birr in five months. The amount stands at 92.69 percent of the 147.66 billion birr the Ministry set as a target for the period.
